I’ve been on stage since I was 11 years old, when I fell in love with acting, and have done challenging work in various formats from Shakespeare to Slapstick, and this is without doubt the hardest and most enjoyable thing I’ve ever done.
Mike’s guidance and kindness, patience, and care for his students are unparalleled. Not only does he take you through the process from how to deal with mic stand away (A Ritual we were all unaware of), right through to joke structure and on-stage performance tips, he just provides that calm center which is needed when people are doing something that is potentially terrifying. In short, he takes the fear away, allowing you to be the best version of yourself as a stand-up!
For anyone who is looking to improve either their confidence or their performance skills, this is an absolute must. Hands down the best course I’ve ever done in any genre. Incredible value for money, you get to meet a bunch of really nice people, and it’s a lot of fun.
Actually, I think everybody should do this course as the life lessons from the six-week experience have been extraordinary. The thing that resonated with me most and is still ringing in my ears was Mike’s almost Zen-like wisdom when he said. ‘You can go on stage and bomb, and it doesn’t matter, and you can go on stage and bring the house down, and it doesn’t matter – nothing will change.’ Five stars!
